We were hoping for a lowkey wrap-up to 2020 and it was quite the opposite. I love New Years’ and the feeling of a fresh start. My expectations were not terribly high for 2020, as I was planning on training and competing in my first Ironman. It was going to be pretty time-consuming and I was also still heavily grieving my mom at the end of 2019. 2021 is going to be interesting considering all things. Here are the principles we’ll be leaning on through this next year.
2021 Goals and Principles:
- High hopes, low expectations – Expectations are my favourite, but not always very healthy. We can only control our actions and reactions.
- No cleanses / diets / restrictions – I decided to stop dieting and being at war with my body. Bodies don’t need cleanses or restrictions. My goal is to do everything in moderation.
- More meditation – I love the Peloton app, and they have plenty of guided meditations. Many of them are 5-10 minutes, which is a reasonable amount of time to spend becoming more mindful.
- Read more books – Aim to read at least 12 books. 1 per month is pretty reasonable.
