We recently spent a few days in Whistler for a quick family getaway. From the moment we arrived, Whistler’s natural beauty and relaxed vibe had us feeling refreshed. We used to visit Whistler solely in the winter, hello skiing on Blackcomb! But after I participated in Ironman 70.3 Whistler in August, Whistler clinched a permanent place in our hearts as a year round destination.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler: A Luxurious Retreat
We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which was the perfect choice for a family-friendly yet luxurious experience. They had so many kid amenities available, so we didn’t have to bring much at all. The crib was already set up in our room when we arrived, and there was a child sized Fairmont robe and children toiletries. And the Fairmont (like many other hotels in Whistler) is really dog friendly.
Poolside Fun
One of the highlights of the trip was spending time at the Fairmont’s pool. Between the outdoor heated pool and the hot tubs, we had plenty of chances to relax and splash around with our child. The mix of mountain air and warm water was rejuvenating and such a vibe.
Exploring Whistler’s Natural Beauty
We took multiple family walks on the trails, through the woods, and just soaked in the raw beauty of the towering trees and crisp, fresh air. It was a great way to stretch our legs after the drive, as well as we made it part of our daily vacation routine. We loved how some of the trails run alongside the golf course too.
Louie made sure to take us to some of his favourite spots along the trails, one being a dip into Lost Lake. I’m super excited for us to eventually getting into mountain biking and some of the other activities, but walking and hiking was still so fulfilling.
Dinner at Araxi
We wrapped up one of our evenings with an amazing dinner at Araxi. The farm-to-table dining experience was fantastic, with each dish more delicious than the last. The fresh, seasonal ingredients truly made a difference. It’s definitely a new experience for us to eat at fine dining restaurants with a child, but they were fully prepared. They even had little Araxi colouring pages.
A Memorable Family Escape
Our trip to Whistler was the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and family time. Between the comfort of the Fairmont, the natural beauty of Whistler, and the amazing food options, we can’t wait for our next trip back.
